Mend
Crochet and Embroidery, 10 x 8 inches (approx.)
Mend was created as the title/showcard piece of the exhibition. Each piece in the exhibition has a tie to reconstructing what’s been lost, both metaphorically and literally through sewing, weaving, and crocheting. While every other piece uses one of these techniques more minimally, Mend relies entirely on crochet and embroidery. The pattern deconstructs a detailed landscape, limiting the view to only a few colors and basic organic shapes. The piece as a landscape remains evident but has been lost through time, translation, and reconstruction.
